Ork Alarm! was a photocopied fanzine that spanned the years 1990 - 1995. Within this website, you will find an online version of all 25 editions, plus the occasional update. "Zeuhl" is a very difficult music to categorize. The word "Zeuhl" has its roots in the language that French master drummer Christian Vander, and his then Magma band line up, invented as the vocal vehicle to deliver their particular brand of music back in the early Seventies. Thereafter, groups or music with any similarities to the "Magma" sound have been pigeonholed by aficionados as "Zeuhl Music".
The Ork Alarm! Fanzine centred around the talents and creations of Christian Vander and the various members of his groups Magma and Offering. Within these pages you also will discover artists that many fans consider to be "singing from the same hymn sheet!". The French groups, Zao, Weidorje, Eskaton, Xaal, Potemkine and many more are written about, including articles on Zeuhl members, like Jannick Top, Bernard Paganotti and Klaus Blasquiz. If that's not enough, the amazing Univers Zero, Art Zoyd and Present are also brought into the fold, and along with them, come articles on band members and founders such as Daniel Denis, Thierry Zaboitzeff and Roger Trigaux.
"Zeuhl" music has produced some of the most original and astonishing modern day music ever heard. Once bitten, (and after picking themselves off the floor) the listener will usually seek out more of the same.Whilst it is doubtful whether any of the bands mentioned above (with the exception of Christian Vander's various formations) consider themselves to be "Zeuhl" artists, it is very likely that fans of one band will gravitate towards others featured within this website.
This website is currently presented as the original subscriber would have viewed the fanzines. Each Issue has been separated into individual web pages. A few articles (in French and German) from early issues have been omitted. Also included is the Supplement "Magma on Tour", an ambitious project that tried to catalogue the concert appearances of Christian Vander. "Ork Alarm! Continued" will attempt to give an occasional update of what is out there in Zeuhland for the consumer to drool over!
