1969-??-?? Paris (75) Rock and Roll Circus (1st Magma concert in the Autumn: meeting Karl Knutt who was the first patron of Magma; in order to play the band needed a name; Vander had the idea: “Ce sera Magma”! “It will be Magma!)
At this time Karl Knuth, an American expat, financed some of the early Magma rehearsals ( and possibly demos ) at Pathe – Marconi. He also provided an apartment in Paris where some members stayed for a while, until his lover’s brother threatened to come up from Marseille and shoot them! – Info from Eddy Rabbin

    As far as I remember … I was there ( of course ), Christian, Guy ,René, Laurent, Zabu , Klaus, Claude Engel, Paco… and in the next studio our good friend Tino Rossi ! LOL

      … and another René… GARBER. Don’t forget, in the 1st version of the band ( at least my version ) Laurent THIBAULT played bass.

    WOW … this is the first I’ve heard that the Pathé tapes might still survive ! Would love to hear one. As far as I remember, the tunes I participated in were all Coltrane tunes. Sometime after that, I was informed that I would be leaving the group.
